Tolerance in biology
In sociology or psychology
tolerance is defined as a tolerability a
possibility to be calm and acceptable for
another’s life styles, behaviors, habits,
feelings, opinions and faiths [1, 2], in biology
and medicine this term means more as an
indifference and a stability under factors
influence at the expense of formation of no
reaction condition, even under increasing of
frequency and power of factors activity. Speaking in
other words, in biology we have more no
responsiveness, indifference then tolerance as
patience, what means controlling even weak
existed intolerance. Another not
less effective mechanism of surviving under
press by external factors is resistance, what
means resistibility as an active reaction of
organism. Low effectively of this way is result
of fast depletion of biological resources under
long lasting aggressive factors activity, then
comes a death.
Thus, there are two ways of vital
capacity have been evolutionally formed:
resistance what is active energy-dependent
reaction and tolerance – passive insensibility,
indifference. It is important to mention that
both of these ways are reasonable as the most
effective but in opposite situations. Resistance
is necessary under strong but sort lasting
influence, instead this, tolerance works in case
of weak and long lasting aggressive factor.
Furthermore, existences of both of factors
support of surviving and evolutional development
of different hierarchy’s biological systems
starting from sub-cellular until biospheric one.
Discussing of tolerance as a
positively directed behavior or relationship is
not necessary to mention about sub-cellular
mechanisms when there is the perfect sample –
the most important reproductive system’s organ a
uterus or in more poetic words – a womb.
Womb as a uniquely tolerant organ
(see Why a womb?)
Womb and earth in some of
traditional faiths and teaching
The fact of uniqueness and
worshipping of womb has deep historical roots.
When in the Western religions the Holly Father
is the most respecting and worshiping, in
other religions this position is gave to the
Mother Earth [4]. At the beginning of civilizations
for ancient Japanese following Shinto and in
American Indian practiced Shamanism the fact
of delivery was the most meaningful and
significant. Since that time in world-view of
the universe integrity and circle of births
and deaths, ancient people were able to see an
analogy between mother delivering a new life
and The Mother Earth “delivering” all live
being then after their death receives its
back.
In traditional Japanese religion
Shinto, an interaction of human and society
with nature and universe is basic conception.
The earth populated with multitude of goodness
and sprits, in fact the earth, people and
animals as alive as passed away are goodness
itself. This under-mind feeling of connection
between nature and people still exists in the
consciousness of modern Japanese people.
Dao
teaching
where the universe is whole womb that is Dao
as well should not be forgotten. For Daoists
the world what was born from the chaos stays
in connection with its mother - the Dao, the
same way as a newborn baby with breastfeeding
mother [5].
Daosist keep
an attention on a peculiar embryology – the
teaching about stages of embryo developing as
stages of world evolution from the womb-Dao,
where the embryo development is analogical to
development of “immortal embryo”. Human embryo
(then fetus) into mother’s womb is forming
during ten moths and after that becomes able
to appear and to continue own life outside of
mother’s body. Similar to this way a spiritual
embryo needs tem months for an obtaining it’s
completeness then it could be born as totally
ripe [6, 7].
Thus, the Womb Conscious Conception
is not absolutely neo-approach it’s based on
deep historical and spiritual roots. This is not
a revolutionary idea but it shown up strong
connection between nature and society as a
comprehensive whole.
